Okay here we go. My question is I have a website that I want to move to my dedicated server. I created a user account with direct admin for the website I want to move. The website shares the ip for the server. Hypothetically speaking as an example lets call the site www.movedomain.com the problem is I cannot ftp to ftp.movedomain.com because the site already exists on another server and doing so takes me to the old server. I want to ftp to the new server and upload the site. Is there a way to do this by using the ip address of the server? ie. ftp.ipaddressofserver/~movedomain or something similar to this?

Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hey,

Use your new username/password and login to the new server using the IP address as the "Server Name".

Does not work!

Well I was way ahead of you on that idea but unfortunately I cannot get it to work that way. If I setup a new user with a dedicated IP it's no problem but when sharing the IP with the server there is no way to ftp to the server with the users id/password that I have gotten to work. Oh well guess I am just stuck using DA crappy file util.

well, why don't you just put everything in a tar file and move them? That will be much easier and faster.

AHAAAAAAAAAAA!

AHAAAAAAA!,

Finally figuired this out! I tried FTP'ing using the DEFAULT domain name as the host. Let's say xyz.com is the DEFAULT domain on the server. Then instead of using the server IP for the host use the DEFAULT domain name for the host. ie. ftp.xyz.com and then simply use the userid and password for the user you wish to log in as and presto success. Once connected you will see that users directory structure. Whew!
