The service 'proftpd' on server is currently down error messages?

"This message has been automatically generated notifying you that the service proftpd is currently down."

Sorry if there is an easy fix to this as I guess it might be a silly newbie question. I noticed I keep getting messages on the panel about this and I would like to see if I can fix getting spammed by the message every hour or so.

Did you tried to rebuild it ?
What is in the error log ? there are some topics about the latest update, @zEitEr wrote an patch here
Before applying this patch make sure that the error is the same

I got the same error. I got frustrated trying to fix this and just switched to PureFTP as the defauly and did a rebuild.

The fixes didn't work for me either. This is getting too much. I simply turned FTP off.
