Hi,

I've got a problem.
I installed directadmin on a new server rocky 8.
For me, everything seems to work well but I have this message :
This is e-mail notification to warn you that your hostname is setup improperly on your system.

The server settings are good. I tried to find a solution on the web but nothing.

Can you help me to find the problem ?

Thanks

The notification says it all. The hostname is improperly setup.

Nowadays when installing Directadmin, it does setup a hostname automatically to you can check functions and configure your system.
Mostly this is a 12.34.56.78.da.direct hostname (something like that). But da.direct is not your domain name, so you have to setup a FQDN hostname yourself like server.domain.com (where you use your own domain name).

Check this:

Also it might be good to ad a seperate DNS entry in DNS manager for your hostname.

Hi, thanks for your answer.
But, I don'tunderstand.
I configure all settings like others servers, but nothing.

The message :
ns4.#####.##, resolves to 127.0.0.1. Please make sure that your hostname resolves to your server ip (51.##.##.##) or else your email may not work correctly.

Solution:
Create an A record for your hostname (ns4.#####.##.) in your DNS control panel. Point the hostname to your server's main IP address. Also check /etc/hosts to ensure that the server ip is correctly set.

In my registrar:
ns4.#####.##.0A51.##.##.##
ns4.#####.##. 0AAAA2001:41d0:303:d996:51:##:##:##

In the dns on the server for ns4.#####.##.:
localhost14400A127.0.0.1
ns4.#####.##.
3600A51.##.##.##
ns4.#####.##.3600AAAA2001:41d0:303:d996:51:##:##:##
localhost14400AAAA::1

On Google Admin Toolbox Dig
The IP PTR is good
The servername A and AAAA are good....

Where the problem ?

Thanks

Exactly where is that message coming from? Somewwere from the DA panel?

Check your /etc/hosts file if ns4.xx.xx.xx.xx is not pointing to 127.0.0.1.

If you want me to help better, provide me with your hostname and ip or if you don't want to give it in public, write it to me via pm and then I can do more checks for you.

Hi,
Thanks for your answer.
I don't understand, i cheched all, open hosts,...., and now i've don't have the message anymore...
???

Thanks

a) You wrote the error came from "this email notification" --> which email comes it from? Where did you get it from?
b) Give real data, give screenshots.

and now i've don't have the message anymore...
Probably no local caching DNS server and/or a dns mistake which was synched before and now with new dns sync automatically was adjusted by the correct settings.

So good that it's working correctly now.
