Any word on if this is in the pipe at all? I did a search for it, and it appears it was talked about a year ago - but not much since.

I have a few customers looking at a competitor local that uses TMDA, would love to offer it as an option.

Thanks,

I just bought another DA license last week so perhaps the developers will pay some attention to me :) (I know we are not by any means a huge DA customer - but I do know that the DA users of the world could benefit from offering TMDA as a spam filtering option.

I had put some bandwidth into thinking out how to implement TMDA as an option using the squirrelmail plugin - but decided I had to learn Exim first to make sure I don't much up the conf files. I never learned Exim. But I had a guy that works for me now that might be inclined to figure it out.

My only stumbling block, assuming I can do the exim and squirrelmail config work is to get a checkbox into the e-mail user config to allow for installation and deinstallation of TMDA.

I would be willing to pay towards the programmer that would be able to set that up. Maybe a few of us could chip in and make it happen.

Challenge-response would be best implemented in the exim.conf file. Many of you know that I do much of the maintenance on that file. And yes, I do know how to implement it.

However ...

Many of us, including me, consider challenge-response to be harmful.

You might want to check a few of the links here before you make your final decision as to how well you like challenge-response.

At least one issue is that most form-to-email software will result in a challenge sent to everyone who fills out a form on sites on your server.

Most people will have no idea why they're getting the challenge; after all they didn't send an email and don't recognize the email address.

Some will report your server as a spammer.

But that's just our opinion. All I'm suggesting is that you study all sides of challenge-response before you reach your own.

So maybe challenge isn't the perfect solution. For normal AOL users like grandma, this is the solution for her/them.

To be enlightened on both sides of the matter, I will read the info in the link you referred us to.

I am all about giving my customers what they want, and if they have the ability to choose their passwords, email accounts, spamassassin settings, etc - I would like them to have the option to have challenge options.

Will I get rid of DA to get it? Nah, course not. I love DA. But I love fulfilling my customers' requests too, when possible. :)

Normal AOL users like grandma are getting their emails from AOL, and adding challenge-response to DA isn't going to help them :) .

I never said you couldn't make the changes to exim.conf.

You can.

I never said that the DA programming staff couldn't make changes to exim.conf. They can.

If they do, I'll keep it in our official DA versions.

But on my own? I won't :) .
