To install Python 2.3

Today I tried to install Python 2.3

Here how I proceeded

wget http://www.python.org/ftp/python/2.3/Python-2.3.tgz
tar xfz Python-2.3.tgz
cd Python-2.3
./configure
make
make install
exit

And Reboot

Is my procedure it good?

So not, how to make?

i don't think you need to reboot...
the most easiest way to install is using yum

btw python is included in most distro, so make sure to check before installing
