hi gang, one of my resellers clients sent out a buch of emails and she forwarded her clients info to me and the error said something to the effect that some or all of the emails he sent did not reach their client,, then a list of a dozen so emails with this text after each email address ( 452 4.5.3 Too many recipients ) is this a setting in exim to adjust how many recipients allowed or in the spam blocking settings or any clue or direction i should look into is really appreciated......

chuck :)

after thought, maybe if the client was allowed to setup a list server,,,?????

ahhhh this makes my head hurt -- somebody take pity this time please... :)

There's no setting for the number of allowed recipients in the default exim.conf file.

Since we don't know how your client sent the emails, further guessing would be futile.

thanks jeff,, sorry for the lack of info,, they are using outlook 2003, ive googled this error msg. and seems that many have the same problem, but the answers seem to be just as varied as the so called reasons, the most popular seems to be blame the isp,,, ?? iam looking for an opinion or guess or better a definitive answer, but how with no more info that one can gather from those (clients) who just know it doesn't work...
i know this is thin info, but any help is appreciated.....

As I've said within the last day or two, ISPs often do this because when there are a lot of recipients they think it's spam.

It doesn't matter how you set the recipients, because any way you do, it's still sent to the ISPs server as envelope addresses.
