Hi all,

I am a total newbie to directadmin and anything web-site related, so please forgive me if my question is on the wrong board.

I bought a hosting package from Cyberdusk on which I have 2 domains.
I have successfully set up an email account for each of the domains, however I don't know how configure the email account to run on Windows Mail/Outlook. So, my questions are :

1) Is it possible to configure my email account to run on Windows Mail?
2) How do I do it? :D

Thanks is advance for any help.

1. On outlook go to add a new account.

Put your name, email and password as you know it.

The mail server will be mail.yourdomain.com for both inbound and outbound servers.

Your email login will be [email protected]
Your email password will be the password you choose when setting up the account.

I believe if you have a newer outlook it should be sophisticated enough to set most of it up automatically once you enter your email address.

Wow, thanks alot.

That almost worked, when I tried to receive a mail via Windows Mail, I recevied the following error message :

Account: 'mail.newspeak.pl', Server: 'mail.newspeak.pl', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '.', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC18

I have no idea what this means, can anyone help? :(

Thanks...again. :D

one more thing...

I can now send from the account to another email account, but I don't seem to receive any replies... :(

You should not be turning on ssl unless your provider supports it. You will have to go in advanced settings for the account you created on outlook and uncheck the ssl option.

Thank you! It seems to be working, but there is one major glitch; I can send emails very quickly, but when somebody emails me it takes a very long time to receive the email, a couple of hours in the cases that I tested and timed.

Is there any solution to this problem?

Perhaps the DA server you are on has been oversold, and there is a queue or messages piling up?
Or Windows Mail is only checking messages once every hour.

Hi,

There does not seem to be any essage piling up, rather the messages which are sent to the account arrive extremely slowly. I frequently click the 'receive messages' button on Windows Mail, so I am sure that isn't the issue. :(

Could it be related to the way Windows Mail has been configured?

You will have to ask your hosting provider why that is. They can look in the mail server logs to find out what is causing the problem.
