Transferring Domains

Hey guys,

I just got this VPS and I have the slightest idea on how to transfer domains. My webhost is swiftroute. I know that I have to just add the domain name to the control panel. But what values do I have to change from my VPS Panel and from my Domain control panel(at Yahoo Domains)?

What do you mean by transfer domains?

Do you want to transfer site content hosted at Yahoo, or simply the DNS pointers?

If you want to transfer the DNS to work from the DA server, and then upload new content to the DA server, then it's quite simple:

1) create the domain on your new DA server. This will also set up the DNS on the DA server.

2) upload your new site contents to the DA server and create and setup your email accounts as well. If necessary be sure to set up your mysql database as required.

3) set up your DNS servers on your DA server according to the instructions found here.

4) log into your domain registration account (at Yahoo domains?) and change the nameservers to those you've set up on your DA server.

If you only have one IP# on your DA server you can either get a second IP# from your hosting company, or arrange slave DNS service from a DNS provider.
