i'm a bit confused;
i've a domain with A record 1.1.1.1 and the customer is on leased line;
we relay mail to 1.1.1.1 -wan IP (the router at customer side and it works fine)

now customer need a website by the domain name; web server is apache; i've created CNAME www and ftp for the domain; but while think of hosting this domain i've to add additional IP (1.1.1.1)to apache machine; but that will cause problem as 1.1.1.1 is already assigned to router at customer side

how can i sort this out! should i add another A record for this particular domain?!

If you're not using DirectAdmin, then you're posting in the wrong place.

If you are (and probably if you're not), then if your client is using his own mailserver and you're hosting him, then you should probably host his website on one IP# and his mx (his mailserver) on a different IP#.

If you can't do that, then you can of course only forward port 587 and port 25 traffic to him, and handle the port 80, port 2222, and port 443 traffic yourself.

I'm not sure if this is really a DNS record but we can leave it in the DNS subforum for now.
