Two domains for one user setup?

If I have two domains configured for one account how is the best way to configure this?

i.e. example.com & example.co.uk

Ideally I would just like any emails to the .co.uk address to be forwarded to the same address on the .com domain (without having to set up matching accounts on both domains). Also also anyone trying to access the .co.uk address in a web browser should be taken to the .com site.

I know I can get the domain registration company to do this through their control panel, but I feel it should be possible to do this in DA? Somthing to do with site redirection though this doesn't mention email?

I feel I am missing somthing obvious!

yes, DA already provides you the functionality to create domain pointers. Login as the user of a domain and go to Domain Pointers and create co.uk as an alias to .com

then if someone goes to .co.uk it will show the website of .com and [email protected] would be same as [email protected]

Thanks!

PS. Only just found out that you get different option in the different skins - enhanced doesn't seem to have domain pointers, but power user skin does!

Domain Pointers is in the enhanced skin under Advanced Features.

Hummm... after a bit more hunting I have found it. BUT its inclusion seems to be a bit hit and miss.

If I change the skin to Power User and set a Domain Pointer. Then change the skin back to Enhanced, Domain Pointers are still there.

If I don't do this then Domain Pointers refuse to appear on my User Page in Enhanced skin. Doesn't matter whether I log in as the user or directly through the Admin logon.

Not a problem as it is easy to get round now I know what to do, but does seem a bit strange!

I don't know why this is happening to you, but I know it's never happened to me. I just looked at a domain which I created with the enhanced skin, and it has Domain Pointers under the Advanced Features section. As far as I can remember, it's always been there.

One just occurred to me. Make sure you have domain pointers allowed for that user.

Aha! I bet you've got it, and that the older skins don't check that flag but the newer enhanced skin does.

That's correct. If the domain pointers limit is set to 0, then DA will assume that you can't create any, thus it doesn't show you. This is done using very basic if-then type checks on the tokens, and tada, it's hidden. Old skins don't have this check, so you get to see the link.... but would rather get an error when you do actually try to create one.
