First, let me state that I have read the other threads requesting support for Ubuntu, but I am going to post here anyway.
Also, let me say that I was a devout Debian user from 1999 ( when I abandoned Slackware ) until 2005 when I switched to Ubuntu on the desktop, and later on the server.
Here are a few things Ubuntu has going for it:
- Cutting ( although not bleeding ) edge software
- Consistent, rapid release cycle
- Based on Debian
- Strong community.
- "Long Term Support" releases
- Commercial support
I could go on, but that's not really necessary. The first three in the list are the main reasons why I now prefer Ubuntu.
