Good evening all. I just have a quick few questions here. I've just bought bits and built a server. I'm just enquiring what version of Ubuntu you would recommend for a hassle free DA installation. I'm looking at 20.04 LTS and 22.04 LTS at the moment.
Server has a 512GB SSD for the OS and bits. I have 2TB of SSD storage for sites. What would be the best partition setup for a DA server, particularly /home where I believe the sites will live? Was thinking of mounting the 2TB drive as /home? Asking as I used to use Contabo servers that were already setup. This server is my very own.

Thanks in advance!

I don't use Ubuntu but both 20.04 LTS and 22.04 LTS are supported. If you want to run older PHP versions, so php 8.0 or lower, then I would recommend using 20.04 LTS since openssl 3 (used by 22.04 LTS) does not support php versions < 8.1.

As for the partitions, it doesn't really matter a lot. You can use a seperate /home partition, might be wise.

There is some advise here:

You can change things if you want. Since we often have enough space we use 1 GB boot.

Thank you Richard, i'll get on that now. Since you mention OpenSSL won't work with PHP versions <8 then it'll have to be 20.04 as I want to use 7.3
Thanks again, you're always very helpful!
