Hello!

I receive automatic tickets telling me that some users could not back up, as following:

> User aaaa has been backed up.
> User bbbb has been backed up.
> Unable to get data from file: /var/named/cccc-user-domain.db

But! User "cccc" has only a virtual host on the server, ns-servers for his domain are located somewhere else, so I had deleted his zone from my server.

Does this issue really prevent from backing up this user?
What am I supposed to do to make automatic backup work?

You should download the backup to a local system, and unpack it to see if it's complete. That way you'll know if it worked.

If you've got an MS-Windows system you'll find that winzip (and probably all other zip programs for MS-Windows) will open tarballs.

If you've got an Apple system you'll find that OS-X is really unix, and you can use tar from the command line ;) .

Seems like they are really backed up.
So I will continue receive errors which I have to ignore, right?

Or you can leave a dummy (or duplicate of the real one) zone file on the server.

It shouldn't be a problem as long as you're not using your own DNS server for recursive DNS.
