Id like to be able to uninstall DirectAdmin if there are any issues like MySQL not working or anything else. Or if you have issues during installation.

You can format your server again if you do not like it.

A reformat could potentially cause massive data loss. The uninstall would remove all things installed, but keep user data where it is stored like websites and config settings.

Just run "./setup.sh" again and it will remove DA data (after 10 seconds) :) Good luck!

Do you want to remove everything, not reinstall?

I want to remove everything DirectAdmin did, and then perform a completely clean reinstall of DirectAdmin keeping data such as websites added and the MySQL Databases created.

Because right now I am having nothing but a issues with installing DirectAdmin on Ubuntu 8.04 Server. I can get it to install, but then when I attempt to login I can't.

There is no such option just to remove everything except MySQL and created websites. If you want - I can take a look at your server for free.

That is why I am here suggesting that their should be an option added to the DirectAdmin such as

uninstall_all.sh <-----------Removes everything to pre-directadmin

uninstall_custom.sh <--------Allows you to select what is to be removed.

uninstall.sh <----------Generic Uninstall that just removes Direct Admin

I will send you a PM with credentials.

Just fixed your problem and emailed DirectAdmin support (now they'll know where is the problem) :)

Im only going by your Join date which was less then 2 months ago.

You cannot use the join date to determine experience. Somebody who has been a server administrator for 20 years can learn how DA works in a few days while others may take years to learn how DA works because they have no prior server admin experience and are learning server administration at the same time they are learning DA.

thank you flaming me.

You called scsi inexperienced first. You could have just waited for more comments instead of saying anything.

There is a stark difference between the words inexperienced and ignorant. Inexperience

Ignorant

Ignorant a bit more derogatory and therefore flaming. Calling someone ignorant is the equivalent of telling someone they lack the ability to learn. Where as, the term inexperienced shows the ability to learn with mow training and what not. Ignorant people from my experience show the lacking mechanisms to learn and gain experience from others mistakes and tribulations.

Severity of the name calling is irrelevant. The point is both of you are wrong and I would not be surprised if the relevant posts got deleted.

The problem is answered and fixed. Let's keep it professional.

I came here to make a suggestion, that is very viable. Yet his possible solution was completely unneeded and completely far off topic. I know a reformat would be a fresh install of DA, but I don't like reformatting a computer because one piece of software in this case DA not working right. Why can't they have an uninstall script that can be run or include the scripts I have included in my example of such script titles to erase everything DA did, to erase everything but MySQL Databases, and User Created Content, Custom DNS Settings, or just to remove DA itself keeping everything intact.

Simply stating reformat shows an inexperienced user. I am sorry if you htink otherwise but the truth relies in their purposed "solution" and so called "assistance". Not to mention a complete failure to read the subject line, and the place I had posted this. It isnt name calling when it is true, however, it is an insult when it isn't.

My conviction still stands. Sorry if you think otherwise.
