This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

bill%[email protected]
Unrouteable address

-----------------------------------------

The address [email protected] is one that I am using for forwarding email.
vps.myserverdomain.com is my server.
Any idea?

I think I found my problem. DNSreport gives me the following error:

mail.somedomain claims to be host vps.myserverdomain.com.

I'm glad you found your error.

For future reference you should know that there's absolutely no way we could have helped you find your error, since you hid the real domains from us.

We cannot possibly help you find the answer to problems if we cannot use the diagnostic tools available to help us.

Ok, forgive me but usually it isn't the best practice to post all your details in case the forum posts get indexed by search engines.
Here is the real error and I haven't figured out how to fix it, yet.

mail.wjrc.com claims to be host vps.plaindns.com.

BTW, I was just out at Camp Pendleton for 5 weeks.

I don't understand why you're getting:

bill%[email protected]

without seeing all your mail configuration details.

Of course it can't be routed; not unless you have an email address that looks exactly like that.

What I don't understand is how you set up your forward.

Is bill@... set up on your server? Is there a domain mail.wjrc.com on your server?

There's no mx record for mail.wjrc.com, so it may not be properly set up to receive email.

There's no mx record for vps.plaindns.com, so it may not be properly set up to receive email.

When I try to send email to bill at mail.mail.wjrc.com, using the smtp protocol, I get an "authentication required" message, which tells me that mail.wjrc.com thinks it has to send the email somewhere else, that it's not supposed to get mail for that domain.

And for the record, Camp Pendleton is a country club compared to Riverside. Today is only the second day this month we're scheduled to be under 90 degrees, and most days we've been in the 105 range.

which is what DA created by default. Should I change it to mail.wjrc.com. A 207.58.131.117
No; mail is equivalent to mail.wjrc.com.

However:
mail MX 10
is incorrect; it should be:

mail MX 10 wjrc.com.

Why are you sending email to:
That's never going to be deliverable; it's not an email address.

Jeff

You're right about how the server shows the mx record; I'd forgotten that DA doesn't show the entire mx record properly.

I believe we've gotten past the point of any help I can give in the forum :( .

Anyone else?

Jeff

Hi,
I have the same problem.
I try send email to [email protected] and I get:

The Postfix program

<[email protected]>: host parkiet-styl.com.pl[64.246.52.84] said:
550-Verification failed for <[email protected]> 550-Unrouteable address
550 Sender verify failed (in reply to RCPT TO command)

My DNS admin looks like this:
ftp A 64.246.52.84
localhost A 64.246.52.84
mail A 64.246.52.84
parkiet-styl.com.pl. A 64.246.52.84
pop A 64.246.52.84
www A 64.246.52.84
parkiet-styl.com.pl. NS ns1.i5.pl.
parkiet-styl.com.pl. NS ns2.i5.pl.
parkiet-styl.com.pl. MX 0

What is wrong ?

Regards
Tomek

This doesn't look like a DNS issue at all.

What user sent the message?

The server running postfix server tried to verify that the sender exists, by attempting to send an email to the sender. The sending server said there was no such user there, so they postfix server refused the email.

A fairly common method used by a lot of people to bounce spam; if the from address doesn't exist, they don't accept the email.

Hi Jeff
I'm not sure but I think I have valid from addres. (how can I check it ? )
Could you try send email to this addres ?

Regards
Tomek

First you look up the mx record for xxx.pl.

When I do that I found out the mx server for xxx.pl is ns18.kwinfo.com.

So I try to send an email for [email protected], and get the following:

[jeff@of1 jeff]$ telnet ns18.kwinfo.com 25
Trying 216.129.11.138...
Connected to ns18.kwinfo.com.

Which looks as if ns18.kwinfo.com doesn't know it's supposed to accept mail for xxx.pl.

Thanks Jeff.

I don't know where is the problem.
I have reseller account at Hostelite, but they didn't answer to my tickets.
I will move this account to another server - it's the best solutions :)

Tomek

Have you checked to see if they have an email support option?

They may not even realize there's a ticket system in DA.
