After being mass defaced i realized that my server really needs to get updated. i'm going through the checklists to help update everything because i'm still new to this. whenever i try up2date i always end up with the following error:

There was an SSL error: [('SSL routines', 'SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE', 'certificate verify failed')]
A common cause of this error is the system time being incorrect. Verify that the time on this system is correct.

any help would be greatly appreciated. sorry if this is an easy error for most people, but like i said i'm still gettin the hang of this.

Thanks in advance!

yeah i never got up2date working as rh9 is end of life cycle or thats what i says when i try to update

i use yum or apt to update anyhow

Ok are you saying there is another way to get updates via up2date then?

just the way you put in from red hat networks i was wandering if u mean theres a way to modify up2dates configuration to make it look elsewhere for updates

I don't know of anyone running a public up2date server.

Some data centers run their own up2date server.

For example, if you've got a VPS from Tektonic, check their forum.

Note that you MUST tell up2date which files to note update (this has been discussed on these forums many times), and to update the stuff in customapache, you need to:

# cd /usr/local/directadmin/customapache
# ./build update
# ./build php
# ./build zend

(don't type the "#" mark; it's there to tell you that you have to be root)

And then restart apache.

because customapache is build from source and i removed the RPM version up2date, yum.etc dont even try to look for updates to httpd.

and i know about the build script used it a few days ago to make sure my php was updated
