Updating services

So, I am running DirectAdmin on FreeBSD 5.3. I'm wondering how am I supposed to update services such as mysql, php, etc... Usually i would use the port system, however there are no packages for those services installed.

How am I supposed to go about keeping these up to date?

Many services are found in the customapache folder; search for "customapache" (without the quotes) on these forums.

Others need to be compiled from source code DA publishes here.

Ok, that covers everything but mysql it seems.

So, what do I do about mysql?

DirectAdmin maintains services entries for FreeBSD 5.1, and not for FreeBSD5.3.

There are entries for MySQL here.

If you want to update beyond version numbers maintained by DirectAdmin you're on your own but you might find further help on these forums; search for "mysql freebsd" (without the quotes).

When I did that I found this thread which has some information.
