Upgrading MySQL

Whenever I upgrade MySQL (even to minor versions), backups fail.... If I manually run mysql_upgrade, then restart service, all fine.....

I thought CB2 did all this....

Backups fail with what error? Or you don't have them created?

grep mysql_backup= /usr/local/directadmin/custombuild/options.conf

./build set mysql_backup yes

I do have backups enabled before upgrading mysql.

Normal backups fail with

"Error while backing up database xxx
mysqldump error output: mysqldump: Couldn't execute 'SHOW VARIABLES LIKE 'gtid\_mode'': Native table 'performance_schema'.'session_variables' does not exist"

after upgrading.

sudo mysql_upgrade -u root -p --force
sudo service mysql restart

I did that, well today, but I thought CB2 did those after upgrading?

Yeah, I manually filled task.queue to redo the backups....

Is concerning though.

performance schema is not enabled by default. Do you have performance_schema=ON in /etc/my.cnf? If so, maybe try to remove it from my.cnf and restart mysql/mariadb

Another thing is to maybe try addding --force to mysql_upgrade command, and maybe it then will stick: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/31967527/table-performance-schema-session-variables-doesnt-exist
