upload website to public_html

Depends on your version of DA
In older versions, one uploaded to
/home/username/public_html
Now, one uploads to
/home/username/domains/domain.tld/public_html
So, if the domain name is iforgot.com and the user name is addledbrain the
path would be:
/home/addledbrain/domains/iforgot.com/public_html for the newer DA and
/home/addledbrain/public_html for older styles.

I never did like what you call the older version.
The original poster may not even be using DirectAdmin. He doesn't say.

That's fair....I never liked what you don't all the older version...and really didn't like finding out that I had to change a lot of settings in ftp clients, etc.
Thanks for the reply...unfortunately I am, again, a major novice at this. My internet provider provides nothing in the way of assistance. I am using DirectAdmin, and in file manager there is a folder named "public_html" but what files do I place there? It has my website, the program I used to build the website, a folder named "home.html" which shows my complete website, but the website itself will not come up when I access it: I just get a message "To change this page, upload your website into the public_html directory" which, in DirectAdmin file manager, it has been done. And still no success.
If you move the contents of this folder into your web root (public_html) then it will display instead of the default DA page.
