Uploading my website.

Hi Everyone!

I hope I am posting in the right section, and in the right forum! I have a website in which I only have a forum and no front page etc. So currently my website has all of its information in singleparentaustralia.org.au/forum which is in the following folder:
/public_html/forum

I would like my site to be indexed by google, and it was recommend that I create a home page (an Index.html file) that links to my forum, as currently, people get to my website and all they see is that default place holder index page of which has no link to my forum.

I don't want a "home page" but would like to create a hyperlink to your forum, then Google and other sites will then know that your forum exists and will start to index it in their results.

Can someone please give me instructions on how to create a hyperlink to my forum in really simple language - because I am by no means an expert and need very details instructions!

If I am in the wrong place to ask this question - would anyone be able to direct me to the right place?
