urgent: emails not coming through

hi, i searched as much as i could and followed a few instructions but no luck

any email sent to any [email protected] is not working. however when someone sends an email with the contact form in oscommerce it works fine though that is obviously internal.

i did have my server as just hostname.com but after reading around changed it to server1.hostname.com . the hostname.com domain also runs ns1 and ns2.

i restarted exim, tried restarting the server, changed the mx records around and followed all the instructions i could find but no luck.

also please know that this only started happening after i transferred user and admin backups for all the domains from a different DA server.

please help this is very critical as i get 100's of emails per day
 
seems it was iptables that was blocking the ports for the email. i disabled it for now, can someone point me in the right direction for a tutorial to open the ports required for exim?
 
if exim is running the ports will be open, telnet your main ip on ports 25 and 110 see if they are running

iptables is relentless, it was even blocking 2222 and i had to run a script to get it to stop doing that. as soon as i enable iptables the emails stop coming in
 
First install KISS; search these forums for instructions.

Shut down the iptables service so it won't start.

Make sure that KISS starts at the end of your system startup.

KISS will manage iptables for the all the ports DA requires.
