Hello team,

There is ONE thing that I would really, really like to see in the enhanced skin and that is a User and Domain search box on the Admin and Reseller Main page.

It's a royal pain in the ass to have to click on Show All Users, and then dig through pages of users just to get to the one user you are looking for.

I have given up on using marina and have switched my 15 servers to the enhanced skin and translated the skin into spanish. But for an admin and reseller this is a big drawback.

I hope you can see this :)

Great idea, but, toniramos, you can already do a search by domain as soon asyou click on Show All users.

I tihnk you didn't understand the idea.

I was suggesting a Search User and Search Domain, right smack on the amin main (index) page and reseller main page. This will save us many clicks a day, and also save us from going through a few screens just to get to a user.

The most common activity I carry out with directadmin (at admin level and reseller level) is search for a user. The current system is a pain.

:o

Presuming you're staying logged in all day (I don't), you can leave one tab (presuming you're using a browser with tabs) on the Show All Users screen. It won't work if you're logged in as any other user besides admin, but when you're logged out as the user, then you're automatically back at admin.

Or, as I do, you can login from the login screen, to admin|username and then use the admin password.

I'm not suggesting this is what you'd like. I'm merely making some suggestions you can use if what you'd like isn't implemented, or until it's implemented.

I don't stay logged in all day either !

I only have 15 servers, but I can't imagine leaving 15 tabs open just to avoid putting a simple User and Domain search on the main page.

It is a really nice feature marina skin has, and it's very appreciated.

Then how about my suggestion of using admin|username?

Or you can even create your own page (hosted locally on your own desktop) instead of on the 'net) so all you have to do is type in the domain name; and it'll do a lookup and login for you. With 15 servers, that could speed things up quite a bit.

Jeff

Damn Jeff !! Are you the one who has to make the mod ? hehehehe sounds like it !!

Basically, I want to stick with the enhanced skin. Why ?? Becuase I want to get rid of additional headaches I don't really need. The skin is a very nice looking one, with those two fields I would not have to create a whole local GUI just so I can skip 3 clicks.

Also, I'm not just thinking of myself. I also have resellers and vps users (admins) that would like this function.

I can probably create the code for it, but I would like it to be part of the enhaced skin.

Can I get a witness

Hello,

At this time, there is already a domain search at the top of the "List Users" page and "Show All Users" pages.

I personally wouldn't add the forms to the main pages, but if you want, adding a search for username form right below it on the list pages wouldn't be very hard.

Also, FYI, that the "Advanced Search" is the way you can search for usernames, domains, status, etc... anything. Numerical or alphabetical, etc..

Of course, this product is for you guys ;) If you all pipe in what you'd like, I can do whatever the vote is ;) If you don't mind the extra bit of clutter from a form on the main pages, adding it wherever isnt very hard for me to do.

John

I wouldn't be opposed to a search on the main page. It is one of the first things I always do.

Hi John,

Thanks for responding.

The main idea is that, for people like me and Rldev, 90% of the time we login as admin, we need to search for a user. Whether it's to fix a problem he has, suspend him or show him how to do something, we need to find him. Sometimes you don't know the user's name but you know the domain becuase it's been reported or whatever, you know the IP so you know which machine to look on, and you need to search for the user via the domain name. In this case you only waiste one click, so we could go without a domain search box, but not without a user one.

They way the enhanced skin is set up right now, you almost have to go through a whole ritual just to find a user. And this is done too many times a day to upset you, hehe.

I understand the cluttering deal, but I think it's very much worth the sacrifice to add a simple input field on the main page of both admin and resellers (resellers have to go through the same ritual) to save all of that time and hassle.

Not sure how many people will read this post and participate, but I'm sure a lot of admins and resellers have this same daily thorn in the behind :)

In any case, thanks for being on top of the game and showing you care about our needs :) That's what separates, by light years, DA from the others :D

Well, John, since you asked, I'd like the two searches (user and domain) in two separate windows at the top of the man admin and reseller pages.

But I'd also like a separate front page like the one I described, so that I wouldn't have to know where a domain is hosted before I logged into it.

When a user calls or writes, they tell us their domain name. We have to figure out which server it's on.

And toniramos, I wasn't describing an entire gui; just a single page (could be hosted locally on the desktop and use lamp or wamp (or even wimp) to do the lookups and call the "right" server.

Or perhaps host it on one of your servers and let your users have a common login no matter what their username or where it's hosted.

If we build it, that's the way we'll build it. Hopefullly DirectAdmin will add the quick search boxes at the top of the main screens for admin and reseller.

Jeff

why can't their be one search box that searches for both? Like enter username or domain name?

If it could do it automatically that would work, but if it required something to be set, then it would be easier to have two search boxes.
