user .spamassassin folder problems

Had a user who's /home/username/.spamassassin folder overfilled past her disk limits. (over 200mb).

Here SA setup is default.

Curious as to how this works. See a file auto-whitelist and a lot of auto_whitelist.lock.* files.

Can someone shed some light on how this works and if there is a way to prevent it from reoccurring?
