After some talking with a friend of mine, I noticed the support of IMAP in the DirectAdmin server. Only when I connect to my email account via IMAP, I happen to have some issues:

  • I am able to make a "subfolder" for the Inbox-folder, only it doesn't appear a subfolder in Thunderbird
  • I am unable to make subfolders of a folder I made myself

I seem to remember reading something about subfolders of INBOX being a problem.

But I don't remember where.

:(

Have you tried creating a subfolder in Thunderbird to see if it appears in Squirrelmail?

Depending on which IMAP server you use, you might not be able to create a folder that contains messages and subfolders. There is an option in Thunderbird/Mozilla to enable/disable that setting. The default is to not allow both folders and messages.
