Vanishing imap email in squirremail & roundcube

Hello all,

A client of mine contacted me yesterday regarding an issue about when they logged into squirremail because they were receiving the following error message:

ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP server.
Query: FETCH 84096:84110 (FLAGS UID RFC822.SIZE INTERNALDATE BODY.PEEK[HEADER.FIELDS (Date To Cc From Subject X-Priority Importance Priority Content-Type)])

I was able to go in and briefly see the messages in the inbox, but when I tried to delete them I would get the same error. So I decided to go into roundcube and take a look at them there and or delete them. I saw them there, but roundcube kept giving me a message that it could not delete the email.

When I tried logging back into squirrelmail, I no longer saw any messages and no longer had the ability to click on "Inbox" because that link wasn't active. I logged out and tried logging back in, but this time I now get the error in squirrelmail:

ERROR: Could not complete request.
Query: SELECT "INBOX"
Reason Given: Internal error occurred. Refer to server log for more information. [2008-02-17 11:42:29]

Now here is the really odd part. When I goto /home/<acctname>/imap/<domain>/<user>/Maildir/cur (via SSH or filemanager) everything is there message wise.

I have restarted exim and dovecot to no avail.

This user has over 4000+ messages in their inbox accessed via imap and who is lazy and appearantly never cleaned out spam email from their inbox. Is there anyway to recover these so they can view them in webmail? Even PC based IMAP clients are having issues connecting to the account.

HELP!!!!!!
 
Delete all the files in Maildir beginning with .dovecot and then restart dovecot.

Then give it a try.
