Apologies i'm pretty new to the forum so maybe i missed the solution for my problem. I want to setup email with Imap instead of Pop3. I'm using windows Vista with office 2007. I followed the imap setup procedure (local as well on the server) and everything seemed to be alright. Except, it works very very slowly (compared with Pop3 solution) although there is almost no data yet in the mailbox. I'm working with 20Mb adsl line so that cannot be the problem. When I tried to transfer email data to imap folders (about 5 Mb it took about 10 minutes, and at the end i received error that the headings of the emails didn't match). Also synchronizing folders takes very long. What could be wrong?
Appreciate your help or advice.
Thank you.

Do you use dovecot? There are no real reasons it would be any different. Does the hostname of the server resolve?

jwinters17,

First question: Do you own the server? If not, then this question needs to be directed to your hosting company.

Second question: If you do own the server, does it run the DirectAdmin control panel? If it does not, then you're asking in the wrong place.

If you own the server and if it does run the DirectAdmin control panel, then you probably need to upgrade the server from the mbox directory structure to the Dovecot/Maildir directory structure. Instructions are on these forums.
