Very strange email issue

I recently updated my SpamBlocker config, and since then, I have a really strange issue, but only with virtual users. Email for a virtual user is delivered, and confirmed by exim, and appended in /var/spool/virtual/<domain>/<user>, but the user can't actually get the message through their email client. This doesn't seem to affect the primary user of the domain at all.

Summary:
1. email from external (eg gmail.com) delivered to exim, confirmed in exim's logs.
2. email shows up in mail directory
3. email can't be retrieved by client, no error messages in client or on server

Any ideas?

FYI, the problem was only with one mailbox, and it was over 2GB, and therefore unreadable by vm_pop3d. I switched to dovecot/Maildir and all is well.
