we are working at merging 2 old servers into one new server. The challenge being that one server had NS1.hosting.net and NS2.hosting.net for name servers and the second one had NS3.hosting.net and NS4.hosting.net for name servers. We have already successfully moved all clients from NS3/4 to the new box and assigned NS3 and NS4 to the NS1/NS2 fields in your control panel.

Now we want to move the NS1.hosting.net and NS2.hosting.net name server clients over to the new server without upsetting anyone by asking them to change their domain name entries at their registrar. Is there a clean way to do this within your control panel? The end result would be 4 name servers being assigned to the same box at a global level rather than just a reseller level.

Not without creating a reseller for the server..... you simply setup the nameservers as normal, apart from setting them as the 2 nameservers in DA....... when you create a site, unless you have them under a reseller you would need to modify the 2 NS records on the domains DNS...

I'm not seein why this would require anything special in the control panel.

With your registrar you can probably register as many nameservers at the same IP#.

Your DA server is already answering for DNS; if you register hosts (nameservers) with your registrar, i.e., ns1.domain.com, ns2.domain.com, ns3.domain.com, etc., all with the same IP#, they'll all point to your DA system.

Then just make sure the ns1, ns2, ns3, and ns4 A records for domain.com all point to the same IP#.
