Webalizer Stats

Hoping someone can help me. Logging in and checking my web page hits, it says that for the month of August, that I had 1853 total hits. Whilst I am hoping that this may be correct I doubt it.

I have a friend that just checked his stats out and he had over 500 hits. His site is pretty much for his own personal use (family)and that seems like it is well out of whack. He has only had his up and running for the last few weeks.

Am I not reading it correctly or is there something that I am missing here?

Any help you can give is appreciated......

That includes your own hits, and other things on the webpages themselves such as images.
So if an simple webpage had 10 images, it would count as 11 hits. At least that's the way I understand it. Since each page, image, is a request in the eyes of apache and webalizer simply parses apaches usage log.

Someone told me that he heard someone else say it in a meeting. I would not doubt though that Homer Simpson has uttered the phrase.... I like it a lot....
