Hey guys,

One quick quest5ion for all you wizzards out there: what am I doing wrong?!

I added a single domain to my DA account, but I can not for the life of me get it to work. I have literally spent all day working on this, but can't get it to go.

The site is canstockphoto.ca

I setup the name servers: ns1.canstockphoto.ca and ns2.canstockphoto.ca, which both point to the two IP addresses for the system.

I updated the domain information yesterday, and then checked today and everything seems OK.

Going to the “preview address” the site comes up: http://24.222.3.50/~cspca/

If you check out the DNS report, it all looks fine: http://www.dnsreport.com/tools/dnsreport.ch?domain=canstockphoto.ca

However, when you type in the actual domain name, the site doesn’t come up! I just get the old “Page can not be displayed”

I’m sure I must have made a mistake somewhere down the line, but I can not figure out where.

Here are some screen shots:

My ISP originally gave me the following information, but I’m not sure if it is relevant:
Primary DNS: 24.222.0.33
Secondary DNS: 24.222.0.5

Anyone have any ideas??

Thanks again!

Duncan

It's working fine from my computer. I type in the domain name and it goes to the correct page. Maybe the DNS didn't resolve yet for the DNS servers that your ISP is using?? The DNS is resolving ok for me. So all of your settings are correct.

Ah, thanks!

It is SO relieving to hear that it worked for somebody.

Now I really do think that it likely had time to resolve (based on my own experience) - so I have a sneaky suspicion that the problem may be with my ISP (Eastlink Cable)

Now that I think about it, I vaguely remember hearing that if you host your site using Eastlink, you won't be able to view the site from a computer that also uses Eastlink.

Hmmm any ideas on that one? Yikes!

Hmm...that sounds fishy to me. What do you get for an output if you ping the domain from your computer? Does the IP resolve?

Go to a command prompt and type:

ping www.canstockphoto.ca

and see if it gets an IP address. If it doesn't then the DNS is not resolving from your computer.

My output looks like this:

Pinging www.canstockphoto.ca [24.222.3.50] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 24.222.3.50: bytes=32 time=387ms TTL=45
