Hey,
I am newer to CentOS, I know enough to work my around on my server and keep it running but before I start selling webhosting I want to make sure my server is secure.
I see a lot of people on here are using CentOS 5.x, I am currently using CentOS 5. Can someone currently using CentOS tell me what the best tools are and what I should do to make sure my server is secure?
I currently have Els 3.x installed and I've used that to install APF Firewall, rkhunter, BFD, suhosin, and i've used els to chmod dangerous files to root. I've also turned direct login to root off.
Any other recommendations? And does anyone know if APF prevents DDOS attacks?
And finally, what do people recommend for testing the server to see if everything is working as it should in terms of security (something to look for holes in security, preferably something free)?
