Just checking my open ports using LSM and netstat after installing my firewall (APF), saw 953 was there which I did not allow but from googling this seems like a BIND thing, required probably(true?). But also I see port 8090 (http) also open, and I didn't allow that. I just can't find any definitive answers regarding this being good or bad, and have googled for long time. Anyone has any insight to this?

Another update. netstat shows 8090, but running nmap does not show it as open. Any thoughts?

Purpose:
HTTP Alternate Alternate (see port 8080 and port 81)
Description:
This port is a somewhat less popular alternative to port 80 for offering web services. (The more popular alternate port is 8080.) Like 8080, its use in a URL requires an explicit "default port override" to request a web browser to connect to port 8080 rather than the http default of port 80. See the discussion of URL defaults and port overrides on the port 81 page.
