I have been searching the forums for a couple of hours and the information is overwhelming.

What is the best solution for spam and viruses.

Spamassassin and ClaimAV
MailScanner
Spamblocker
VirusChecker

all of the above or what combination?

I want it to use as little CPU as possible yet want to be able to give the customers flexibility.

SpamAssassin and ClamAV. I can install it for you for a small fee. DA offers you and your clients the means to edit the SpamAssasin config file per user.

Exim + Exiscan + Spamblocker + Spamassassin come with DA you have to tweak the exim conf a bit to enable the filtering.

The only thing you need to install is an antivirus. Clamav works well with Exim.

This combination uses less resources than Mailscanner.

Loged in as a user I click on "Spamassassin Setup" then at the bottom of that page I click on the link "Manually edit the config file yourself" and I get a page with a text edit box that is blank.

Is this right or should there be the Spamassassin confiq file or?

if you try to save first and edit manually it will show SA config.

here is my config

required_hits 5.0
rewrite_subject 1
subject_tag *** SPAM ***
report_safe 1

required_score 5.0
rewrite_header subject *** SPAM ***

The text edit box (see above) is blank, empty, nothing in it. I click on the save button and get the following error:

--------------
Unable to save your changes

Details

Unable to open /.spamassassin/user_prefs for writing
----------------

Any ideas?

Make your settings in the Setup and Press Save. This will create a first setup file. Then you can edit the created file with 'Manually edit the config file yourself'.
