what is the function of "repair, check, optimize" from mysql managenet

i found out this 3 button from mysql management.

may i know what is it for?

Repair = fixes a database if data is corrupted
Optimize = optimizes the database restructing data to make it load faster
Check = checks if a database is corrupted

i found out that there is repair, optimize at phpmyadmin too.

it is the same function?

if i want to process those thing. which to to process 1st?

optimize then only repair or repair only optimize?
