What is token |SIGNED| in /usr/local/directadmin/data/templates/zone.conf used for?

I wonder what is the token |SIGNED| is used for in /usr/local/directadmin/data/templates/zone.conf template?

If domain is a signed one (http://www.directadmin.com/features.php?id=1525), then |SIGNED| becomes .signed, if not - it's empty.
