I have a server with Cpanel and I want to migrate to Directadmin, but I have a question.
On my Cpanel server I can add multiple DNS in an account.
In Directadmin there are options for 2 accounts and 20 domains, 10 accounts and 50 domains and unlimited. I would like to know if, regardless of the account I choose, I can add as many zones as I want within an account?

you can add up to your license limit, as you described on cheapest plan you can add to server 20 domains, they can be in one account or in two accounts, but totally only 20.
Same with plan for 50 domains. Only with unlimited you can have all unlimited accounts/domains.

Zones or records?
1 domain = 1 zone
So as Zhenyapan said, you can use as much as 20, 50 or unlimited depending on the license.

However... records is another thing.
Every zone file (so every domain) can have loads of records, like
www.domain.com
ftp.domain.com
mail.domain.com
subdomain.domain.com
etc. are all zone records and there is no limit to that as far as I know.

1 domain = 1 zone
Well... as an admin, you can add zones in the DNS Administration at admin level. And for those domains only DNS is hosted, not any other service. They won't appear as an account, they won't appear in the domain list. So, the question is if the license only allow the set number of zones in the license, or it will allow you to add any number of zones, but not as locally hosted domains? @DirectAdmin Sales can clarify this?

If you're doing it at the Admin level (Admin Level » DNS Administration) then you can create unlimited zones and you aren't restricted to the domain-limits of the license. (y)

yes, we all here forgot that cheapest licenses also used for "multi server setup" and can keep unlimited dns-zones.:sneaky:

I didn't forget, but the question was:

Since he mentioned 2 acounts and 10 accounts, and said "an" account, I thought he was talking about one of the acounts which are present in the license.

But the unlimited DNS zones can only be used in 1 account, being the admin account right?

That was it! I will use 1 account and host only some DNS but not host the domains and other services.
Thank you so much guys!
