why is all double on server?

Im a complete newby with DA, and getting confused as everything seemes to be double on my server.
The server setup is like this:
*Assets
*Domains / hoffmanns.nl/logs or private.html or public ftp or public_html
* Mail
* Public_html

The root is, as far as I have figured out is public.htm
But, when I upload, all my files also appear in the domains/hoffmanns.nl/public.html

I am trying to install a subdomain, but can't get it to work and I think it has something to do with my confusion about the setup.
Please help

public_html is simply a link to domains/example.com/public_html.

And it's normal, so your FTP users with only one domain in their account can just cd to public_html.

And it doesn't have anything to do with any other problem you may be having.
