Hello,

Most of people here are web company owners.
Maybe you can help me telling me your opinion about this:

Will you buy webhosting support from a 3rd party company ?

It Could be interresting I think for people who want to spend time to make their company grow...
Or for company which have ponctual needs...

Of course I have detailed ideas about what the services will be.
I think about dedicated support with a dedicated person to manage your helpdesk.

Please, give me your opinion, and tell me if this kind of solution can be usefull and interresting in your point of view.

Regards,

Don't understand the relevance. If you're running an ICT business. I would think you have some level of skill on how to run/setup/fix/troubleshoot you're server. If you're dependent of an other company, I would recommend that you use a full managed server.

think about dedicated support with a dedicated person to manage your helpdesk.

Let's say you have 50 clients that you support helpdesk services.. How do you keep them apart?

If you're using a ticketing helpdesk ? Then most of the ticketing software company's already provide these services.

I understand what you're thinking off, but I don't think you have this clearly thought out. There are too many bumps you will run into if you provide support to other ones customers..

One wrong answer ? And what, do I get my money back ? :)

I would rather just stick too you're own personel and not "just" hand over you're customers to an other company.

Hi,

We are a full time hosting company - and we provide our own live support. (As part of the deal) We also provide branded phone numbers to our dedicated server clients so their customers can call us for technical support - we answer in their companies name. If a refund request comes along we simply refer it back to 'customer services' by email so he can deal with it. We are purely the 'technical dept'.

So many hosting companies have part time support pretending to be full time support fitting around the 'owners' college classes etc which could be a recipe for dissatisfied customers.

What I'm saying is... if you promise 24/7 support and charge accordingly - make sure you give it

If your support guarantees an answer within 4 / 12 or 24 hrs then make sure your customers know it and receive whatever they think they are buying :)

You can also provide tutorials online to help with things - they also cut costs and phone calls alot - we get ours from www.cheapdemos.com but there are a few others as well - listed in other parts of the forum.

Another option is to provide a phone number that goes straight to answerphone and then records it and emails the message to you. There are plenty of companies that do these on the web - we can get these for £3 - £4 a month for a UK 0871 number with internet based switchboard - PM me for details if you want.

Hope this helps,

Rob

I'm still not sure what auricom's original question means.

Do you mean support for you, the DA admin or reseller, for machine issues? Or do you mean support to end users (site owners)?

We've been offering system support and administration under the name nobaloney.net since 1999, and also end user (site owner) support to admin and reseller clients for approximately two years.

While good admins are hard to find, end-user support is a very crowded business; we had to become price competitive with India-based comanies to make our business model work.

Auricom, do you mean you want to go into the business if there's enough interest?

There's plenty of interest, though perhaps not on this forum.

But there are plenty of companies providing the service as well.

Hello :)

Thanks for the replies;)

Yes the idea is to provide support for the customers of another companies. The companies can be resellers, individuals or well etablished companies etc...

So, yes ! why not to go into the business if there is enough interest from hosting community ? It Could be interresting.

I know it can be hard to setup, and you have to "fight" :D with competitors, but if there is enough interest that's a great challenge !

That's exactly the kind of company I'm targeting ;) (because I guess there is a lot like this :D )
But I will not run into this kind of business without checking risks ! and yes it's what I'm trying to do here with this thread: your opinion is important to me.

jlasman you told me that there are plenty of companies providing this service and it seems you know specific forums on the net dealing about this topic. I found only fews on search engines (bad request from my part probably) If you want, you can PM me to share your links.

Best Regards to all,

I don't know what you mean about forums. I don't know of any other forums besides the ones we all use at one time or another. I spend little time on forums.

http://24x7hostingsupport.com/
http://www.supportpro.com/
http://www.nobaloney.net/

are three companies currently offering hosting company support services. Our page will be up by approximately the first.
