Wrong mail directory

Good day to you,

I have a problem using vm-pop3d on Freebsd 6.0 after trying to install dovecot (maildir).

Usually I receive my mail in /var/spool/virtual/[domainname]/[username] and my webmail shows my mail.

But now my incoming mail is stored in /usr/home/[username]/imap/[domainname]/[mailuser]/Maildir/new/ and not shown in webmail (Uebimiau)
(mail for domainadmin is now stored in /usr/home/[username]/Maildir/new)

This all occurs after trying to install dovecot. (http://www.directadmin.com/forum/showthread.php?p=120385).

Please can somebody tell me how I can move/convert my mail from the IMAP directory back to /var/spool/virual/... without losing the current mails there? And how to receive new mails direct into /var/spool/virtual/...

(or how to move mail from /var/spool/virtual/ to imap and how to let my webmail works.)

I hope you can help me!

Yes,

But because I didn't receive new mail I disabled dovecot and updated vm-pop3d (http://www.directadmin.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-8200.html).
Rebooted the server and start vm-pop3d.

So dovecot is disabled and vm-pop3 is running. If there is a opportunity to use dovecot and maildir I will use dovecot. But then I have to convert my /var/spool/virtual/... tot the Maildirs.

Thanks for helping!

Now mail is coming in /var/spool/virtual/ but webmail is still showing the /Maildir

UPDATE: fixed!

Now the mail for all users is coming in /var/spool/virtual/ but not for the admin account, /var/mail/username
I tried (http://help.directadmin.com/item.php?id=134) /usr/etc/pam.d/vm-pop3d (for freebsd in) to change in:

#%PAM-1.0
auth required /usr/lib/pam_unix.so shadow
account required /usr/lib/pam_unix.so

And restart vm-pop3d

but /var/log/maillog still gives the same error
Jan 3 11:09:36 ***** vm-pop3d[19853]: User '[user]@[domain]' - failed auth, from=127.0.0.1
Jan 3 11:09:41 ***** vm-pop3d[19853]: Socket closed from 127.0.0.1

You do recall reading that the conversion to Dovecot is not reversible, don't you ;)?

Of course it's reversible, but it could cause you to lose email.

You probably need someone to do a complete analysis of what email is where, and make necessary changes and complete reinstallation.

It might be easier to just install Dovecot/Maildir correctly so it does work.

(Usually if mail isn't delivered properly after what appears to be a successful Dovecot installation, then the exim.conf file couldn't be updated properly. In that case the easiest fix is generally to do an install of the Beta version of SpamBlocker3, which includes separate versions for systems with Maildir and mbox.
