With the discontinuation of Frontpage, some of our customers will need to find another easy way of updating their websites.

My personal preferences are:
- valid (x)HTML
- accessibility and SEO

I am playing a bit with TinyMCE for another project and I think it could easily be implemented. Literally takes 2-3 lines of Javascript to change the textarea into a javascript/ajax-driven editor. No plugins required. Maybe have it as an option in the File Browser, like "Simple Edit" instead of just "Edit".

Of course, it's easy to add it to DA (havent tried it myself), but I think many people could benefit from it, if it were a standard option.

What do you think?

personally I don't think DA, as a HOSTING control panel, needs this function. I believe that DA should have the hosting control as the main (and only?) function. A replacement for any html editor does not fit in this picture.

On the other hand, TinyMCE is indeed pretty easy to implement and it won't harm anyone to put it in I guess, so I won't discontinue my DA license if they decide to put it in. I just don't think I would use it.

I think that if there's an "Edit" function for textfiles (HTML and so on), there can also be an additional option for the less technical-oriented people. Would only show with .html .htm and maybe .tpl (and .tml) for templates.

The problem I see is that it our support desk will have to add support for site design.

I don't want the extra support load, but your mileage may vary.

Why don't you write the plugin ;).
