xls to mysql

I am interested in using a php program that will convert an xls file to mysql. I am not certain if the host will allow this to happen. I have read the thread about uploading a database to sql but I cannot activate ssh as recommended.

Do you own the server, or are you just an account holder on the server?

You cannot use ssh on your account unless it's set up for you by the server administrator.

If you don't have SSH access to the server, you might be able to ask the box's owner and try to get him or her to run the script for you.
