hi everyone,

I'm just about to install DA on a freshly installed Fedora Core 4 server.

I had a question about yum though. Would anyone recommend using yum before I install DA, or is it better to run yum after I install DA? I would be running "yum -y update", but don't want to break the DA install.

The DA installation page says to use a clean install of your. I guess I'm wondering does "Clean" mean "not updated".

Thanks :)

There are lot's of topics in this forum about yum and howto use it, just use the search option to find the matching topic for you.

Clean Install -> No other Controle Panel installed before. Just your plain OS (and if you wish incl. with updates) and then DirectAdmin

We use CentOS rather than FC, but I don't see any reason why the answer would be any different...

Before we install DA we bring our server up to the latest versions of everything using yum.

Then we set up the exclude list for yum (you can search for it in these forums; just look for yum exclude), and set up yum to right in cron.daily.

Then we install DA.

Jeff
