You didnt run phpize first.

yum install autoconfig then proceed, if you search the forum I posted a thread with instructions that worked fine for me and a few others.

Then, use ths update.script to install sohosin. (./update.script SUHOSIN)

Well I just posted what works for me.... I'm sure there are several ways to skin a cat!
