I am completely new to DirectAdmin and trying to move some accounts with a short notice.
I created all the domains in the Admin domain mgmt. When I go to the create a user I get the message the domain already exists.
I am sure I am doing this wrong but if someone could point me in the right direction for on boarding new accounts it would be much appreciated

I worked through that but received the following during restore

Unable to find cPanel user configuration in /home/admin/user_backups/import/ggpweb_cpanel_to_convert/cp/ggpweb

Error converting file: /home/admin/user_backups/import/cpmove-ggpweb.tar.gz: Converting ggpweb (/home/admin/user_backups/import/cpmove-ggpweb.tar.gz)...

Hi there,

Are these cPanel backups you are trying to restore?

This thread contains some useful information about the conversion process from cPanel to DirectAdmin.

Also with your first point, are you creating domains before restoring a backup of them?

yes.. i went and deleted those and created new users under reseller with their domains.
I do not have root access to source server so all my backups are through the cpanel

When you are restoring a backup file (i.e domain.com username: domain) you will want that to not pre-exist on the server, typically to avoid any conflicts. Assuming all of your data is in the backup file, it is enough to simply restore that file.

If your backups are from cPanel (cpmove files), a server administrator will need to convert them to DirectAdmin backups as per the thread I linked.

I would contact your web host to see if they offer a free migration service.

I am the web host .. I had my company with skynet but I have moved everything to one of my VPS servers... I own an MSP and do the hosting on the side.

This is you. You need to convert them.

Slow down and read through the link SmallWeb sent.. https://forum.directadmin.com/threads/how-to-cpanel-to-da-migration.58059/

It is going to be fine when you get there.. We all love DA.

We all know what it's like to be awake for 30 hours straight;).
