Hello,

I have registered the domain techducat.com and used the Evolution interface to create a new mailbox and send email.

I never received the emails I sent to my GMail neither were the emails I sent from GMail received.

Every few hours I receive the error below in my GMail:
DNS Error: DNS type 'mx' lookup of techducat.com responded with code SERVFAIL

I did a domain look-up and my domain is active.

I was able to PING my DNS entries:

Primary DNS cdns1.interserver.net 216.158.228.164
Secondary DNS cdns2.interserver.net 216.158.234.243
Tertiary DNS cdns3.interserver.net 199.231.191.75

What could be the issue?

Did you put all your DNS records in their DNS servers? Your server's DNS is probably not tied to theirs unless you set that up on your server.

The screenshot below is the default page I got on payment:

I did not realize I had to make any other changes. I believed I got email and hosting services by default.

Ahh ok, you need to fix your domain DNS servers, just tested the one's listed there and it looks ok. So change your DNS servers on your domain registrar to vda5100a.trouble-free.net and vda5100b.trouble-free.net

I have looked at the screen to change DNS but I cannot seem to make changes as shown below. Please pardon me; I am a novice here.

Probably under domains, the DNS area there is for their DNS, to use your DNS server you need to change your domain's DNS servers to yours not theirs.

You need to register the your DNS servers with your registrar for your domainname. For example if you used godaddy.com to register your domain, they have a section on their website to set the authoritative DNS servers for that domain. Your registrar will have that as well and you need to set your authoritative DNS servers there to make your domanname visible to all the DNS servers on the internet. I don't think you have done that, since me doing a dig or nslookup on techducat.com gives me a SERVFAIL.

Thanks for responding.

I registered my domain through InterServ. I have accessed the InterServ panel and as shown in the attached screenshots, the DNS configuration under Domains is showing up as different for DNS Manager. I have tried to update through the Domains>Name Servers>Edit function but it has not updated since I changed it 2 days ago.

I am able to access my mailboxes through the Webhosting>Automatic Login>Click Here link; but I cannot send or receive emails.

It looks like you are a customer of a host that uses DirectAdmin for their control panel. This site is for admins that use DirectAdmin on their servers. You should work directly with your host to resolve this issue, they would have access to any log files that might be requested and should know the specifics of their server(s)

Thanks for pointing that out.
