New install to VM
DirectAdmin works great. But: The mail service is not working - letters are not sent or received.

VM is behind Proxymox. All ports are forwarded

ss -lntp | grep ":25"
LISTEN 0 20 0.0.0.0:25 0.0.0.0:* users:(("exim",pid=850,fd=5))
LISTEN 0 20 [::]:25 [::]:* users:(("exim",pid=850,fd=4))

cat /var/log/exim/paniclog
2026-01-23 14:01:44 1vjEvA-000000000fs-0PNv User 0 set for local_delivery transport is on the never_users list

The settings are made according to the instructions.: https://docs.directadmin.com/other-hosting-services/exim/configuring-exim.html

lan_ip=external ip (Replacing it with an internal address doesn't work either).
domainips= external ip

exim -bpc
165

Help me, please

This does not mean Exim is not working, this is a normal message for root mails. If you want this message to be removed, then edit the /etc/aliases file and at the bottom change the root mail to your mail, so remove the # and set like this:
Code:
change the mail address to the mail addres you want to receive root e-mails (which can be important).

Restart the Exim service after making these changes, and then that line is gone from the logs.
And you will receive all the mails which are already present at the moment for root.

But this has nothing to do with other mail receiving or delivery.

EXIM works. Moreover, it successfully sends mail within the server. But it doesn't send it outside.

Please next time translate errors to English before posting. Time-out during connection.
If this for incoming mail, then it looks like your port 25 incoming is not open check that.
If it is for outgong mail, them probably port 25 outgoing is not open.

Might be that the datacenter is not allowing mail traffic for a certain period. Start checking if port 25 is open incoming and outgoing.

Why are you posting assumptions?
I generate them perfectly well without you.
It's better to write how to confirm or refute them.
Pay close attention to conclusion SS, stated in the original message.

try "telnet" the port 25 from inside to outside like gmail or outlook.

I guest, this look like routing issued from the inside network.
So, just confirm with your ISP that they're block the port :25 or not.

Assumptions? You should read again. Be glad that I took the effort to translate the error notice.
If you want to be rude about somebody offering help..... a grep does not mean the port is really open.
If you don't have the knowledge on how to really test if ports are open or not, then don't reply so denigrating and unthankfull to people trying to help you.

As far as I'm concerned I'm done with this issue.
