Hi,

I want to lock in my directadmin for about a year and not pay monthly, with this in mind. I don't know the state of directadmin or future roadmap so I wanted to know how safe it is to even put deposits to my account for monthly deduction since a year plan isn't available.

Those who want to avoid monthly transactions typically deposit some amount to their account, then set the license to 'Balance' as payment method. There are no minimum deposits so you can prepay as much as you feel comfortable - it doesn't have to be a full year.

Alternatively, if you don't want to deposit funds to your DA account, consider getting a prepaid VISA/Mastercard and load it with what you want. Add that to your DA account and the money is safe and yours.

Personally, along with others, I think a yearly licence would be a good idea also. I have yearly contracts with datacentres so why not a yearly DA licence 😊

I'd like this option too, yearly option, however, even though it could be the same price as monthly, it is deemed as loss regular income to businesses.

Well can't you prepay and increase the license time with balance payments? I never tried the limit but I remember extending it more than a month. One can add a yearly balance and with 12 simple clicks can increase it a year I guess. Let me know if I'm wrong.

Edit on 06.03.2026: I tested it and with balance payment I can achieve this;
No need for a payment
License is already active, expiring in 56.5 days.

While one can prepay on the account for a year.
It would be appreciated to get a yearly invoice as that keeps the administrative overhead lowest.
One day I will have to move away from my legacy license(s) and it certainly would be nice if this option is available by then.

Might be nice, but I think DA won't do that. Too much fuzz with customers paying a yearly license and the for whatever reason they use it shorter and start demanding money back because they didn't use it the full year.
No you, but if I see how crazy some people get on what lifetime should be, for sure there will be more fuzz with yearly payers not making use of it for a year.

Could be in the contract agreement, but still... will be a lot of fuzz.

But I can imagine for some it might come in handy to just pay yearly.

I paid for a 'one-year' license and they cut me off after only 365 days. Absolute scam! As far as I’m concerned, a year is a Pluto year.
