That part I totally do not understand. I don't understand this one at all combined with the above. When limiting this setting to 25, one would expect that only 25 could be used for SMTP. So how come when -not- allowing port 465 and 587 in SMTP_PORTS it allowes them to be used? And if present...

I had tested on another this server with another domain and same problem. Tested on another server with another domain and there it works as expected. Other server same thing. But testing with a subdomain without .htaccess is a good idea. I will try that.

No. I don't know how this is done in Evo skin. But in Enhanced skin, you can change the FTP password and de-select the Directadmin password, just as admin and reseller can and then only the FTP password is changed. I don't see an option to deselect Directadmin in Evo skin, either it's missing...

That was the problem here, he only had his user access, no ssh, no admin pass. But it's good to know that is possible too.

I don't know the reason, but alternatively you could also just use some impossible strong password for that and just not give the password to anybody. Nobody can use it then.

I have used MXroute RBL's before (which he uses himself too), they are great, unfortunately a bit too great, because various valid mails did not came through anymore because it uses too many netblocks. Could very well be that was the case.
