Admin owned domains

I am fairly new to D.A, I am running it on two machines.

I managed to migrate most of my users to the new server, and switch the DNS on that server. All is well on that end.

On my existing server only a few domains are going to remain, and I am making one of those domains the top level domain, with the nameservers, etc.

My problem is I'm not sure which tool I need to use to make the pre-existing domain/site actually under the domains part of the Admin account. I'm not sure that this matters, but I think it may.

Maybe I'm wrong. and maybe there is a better way for me to do this, without making new nameservers on a different domain.

If anyone can lend me some assistance I would greatly appreciate it. I really like the D.A. setup, and I'm willing to get my feet wet and learn a bit more.

first let me see if I understand you correctly.

you've got server 1, with a few domains, and
where your nameservers reside.

now you've got server 2, where you'll add a few
domains, and want to use the nameservers on
server 1.

server 2: admin settings, set the nameservers
to those used on server1.

server 1; add an A record for the hostname of server 2. then update the hostname on server 2.

on server 2, as admin, go to multi-server setup,
and set up copying the dns info to server 1.

on server 2, create some domains. zone files
are created there, will use your nameservers on
server 1, and the zone files will get copied to
server 1.

no, its not that complicated. i had thought about going that route, but i have migrated all off that server and moved all the accounts but one, to the new server.

the domain under my main admin account was also moved. one domain, owned by the main/root admin account, but not directly one of the user admin's domains, is left on the server.

i wanted to make that domain under the root/admins account. so when i log in as admin to DirectAdmin the choice for that domains functions are right on the user level.

i realize now that my configuration is working without it being there, and it can exist even running my nameservers outside of the whole admin account.

i didn't know beforehand if it would work. thats why i asked here. maybe i wasn't clear enough.

regardless, thanks for replying.
