Hi. I've domain htop.pl for my own server with ssl imap, smtp, pop3. In mail clients I use htop.pl to avoide problems with ssl error (ssl for single domain, without wildcard).
Now I added one domain to my server, for example example.org and important question (answear probably in RFC or doesn't exist, I wasn't able to find): do mail protocols allow to redirect to other server name using DNS?

For example, my firend doesn't have ssl for example.org, but in Thunderbird he type as smtp and imap example.org, but Thunderbird get from DNS special answear (srv, txt) that mail client should use as server htop.pl instead example.org?
CNAME will return IP and the ssl error will appear?
Maybe it's not possible, I think that impossible, but maybe :)

If you're not sure, test :).

My servers all use A records to point mail.EXAMPLE.com to the server's main IP#, and my users set up their local clients (i.e., thunderbird) to point to mail.EXAMPLE.com (where EXAMPLE is their domain name.

And this just works.

Or am I missing something in your post?

Jeff
